Short description of organization and its work to control and eliminate NTDs:

The Leprosy Mission is an international NGO whose goal is to eradicate the causes and consequences of leprosy. Its experience is that leprosy has complex and deep-seated effects on the life of the individual. Its programs therefore focus not just on drug delivery but on the deeper aspects of disease management, on disease prevention, on community education, and on the consequences of leprosy such as disability, social exclusion, and loss of livelihood. The Leprosy Mission undertakes a range of public health, medical treatment, disability prevention, rehabilitation, community development, advocacy, education and research programs working in collaboration with donors, governments, partner NGOs and persons affected by leprosy. It works both as direct program implementer and through partners. Its programs typically focus not just on the needs of people affected by leprosy, but also on other health, disabling and stigmatising conditions.
